  Electronic Receipt Card instead of paper receipts wot do u think 25 Apr 2007

  Came up with this idea when i misplaced my till receipt yet again, so could not get a refund or replacement for a kettle i purchased.
  
  Electronic Receipt Card
  
  Swipe your Receipt Card at time of purchase, details everything you buy will go onto this card, making it easier for everyone to find their receipts~!
  So you won't need to carry around a bag full of paper receipts any longer.
  Expiry date for each receipt could be 28 days after the purchased was made, for other items such as electrical goods which require you to keep your receipt longer to cover the manufacturers guarantees etc, a paper receipt could be given or they could have a yearly expiry date.
  Obviously, this idea needs tweeking, but I personally cannot understand why has no large store or supermarket has yet to come up with more greener solutions.
  Maybe its just me, but what with global warming, hazardous landfills which will eventually fail and leak leachate into ground and surface water and
  increased levels of carbon dioxide (C02) and other polluting gases in our atmosphere.
  Shouldn't we be doing a lot more than we already are.
  
  Please feel free to let me know your opinions or any other ideas of encouraging people, stores, schools and organisations to save paper, recycle etc.

  What a good idea, I've been thinking about the amount paper wasted with receipts. When I bought two items with my card and got reciepts which were about 60cm worth of paper, all of this I don't need. I don't understand why they have to give me two receipts, one with the items and separate VAT receipt, I'd be quite happy being able to read my reciept on line via my nectar card.

  Receipt rolls already use recycled paper and are so much more thinner than the usual GSM in standard paper.
  
  I like your idea in principle, but loads of people would still complain.
  
  Not sure about other people but I like to check the receipt whilst in the lift, or just after going through to sort the problem then and there instead of having to worry about it later.

  thats going to be hard, how can you check your receipts and correct mistakes? i always check the receipts b4 leaving store, then i can correct any problems. my stores a 30 min journey away and i usually go there when im in the area- wouldnt like to have to go back to sort out an error. using my car-defeats the object of saving the evvironment.
  i dont see why the card details cant be on the same receipt, at the bottom so you can tear off i needed. when their on own receipt you get duplicate details eg store address, date, numbers

  Sainsburys at fairfield park in Bedford now have their receipts printed on both sides of the paper therefore using half as much paper.i feel that is at least a start

  The double sided receipt printers are going to be installed in all stores over the year.
  I think it is a good way to save paper, and also makes the receipt more managable.
  It also saves the need to print all of the Boring Blurb on the back of the old receipts!
  
  Hopefully these will be installed in the store i work in soon, and the new barcode scanners would also be good!
