More about the programme

The typical content of a MEND programme is shown below but it’s much more than healthy eating and healthy living – it’s also about making friends, boosting confidence and even improving concentration!

A 10 week programme:

  • Twice weekly exercise for children managed by Youth Sport Trust trained coaches
  • Twice weekly healthy eating and healthy living advice
  • Health and Fitness measurements taken in week 1 and 10 (plus questionnaires) so that you can see and note improvements 10 weeks later

You have the opportunity to learn lots of interesting facts about:

  • The importance of a healthy diet (at all ages!)
  • Good and bad fats and sugars
  • Refine and unrefined foods : which fills you for longer
  • What makes you eat more or less healthily and how to make simple changes
  • Setting your goals
  • Reading supermarket food labels

And more great fun:

  • You can put this learning into practice at a supermarket store tour  – followed by a tasting session and then play in a team quiz to earn extra points for a reward
  • Try new recipes at the MEND Food Fest
  • Attend a farewell Graduation and finally have great fun at the group reward
