We launched our jute shopping bag in 2006.
This light brown coloured jute bag is derived from a long, soft, shiny vegetable fibre that's spun into course strong strands that’s ideal for making long lasting shopping bags.
The Jute has been grown using non genetically modified crops with the use of organic manures and avoiding the use of pesticides. This bag is carbon neutral. There is no certifying standard that currently exists for organic Jute, but we continue to work with the Soil Association to achieve one. The first trial of organic Jute, which we hope will be certified by the Soil Association, will be harvested in September 2007.
