Last year, Sainsbury’s gave away over 15 million Bags for Life. And you’ve helped us by recyling over 150 million disposable plastic bags at our instore facilities, last year alone.
Reduce
We’re aiming to reduce the number of disposable plastic bags we give away by 50% by next April – and at the same time we’re committed to increasing the amount of recycled material in our bags to 50%.
Reuse
We now give you one Nectar point for every bag you reuse, so you have even more reasons to remember to take your old bags shopping.
Recycle
When your Bag for Life wears out, we’ll replace it for free. There are also recycling points in all our main stores so you can recycle your plastic carrier bags.

Bag for Life
These bags costs 10p and all profits made go to local charities.
They’re made from 100% recycled plastic and we've designed them to be re-used again and again. When the bag has worn out just bring it back to Sainsbury’s where we’ll replace it with a new one for free and recycle the old one.
Super shopper
Our super shopper bag costs 50p.
This stylish, strong bag has been designed for bulkier items and can be used and re-used.
Fold-a-shopper
Our folding shopping bag costs 75p.
Unfold it, fill it and re-use it. This bag is designed to fold away neatly, small enough to keep with you for those unexpected shopping trips.
Jute bag
This bag costs £1.
This light brown coloured jute or hessian bag is derived from a long, soft, shiny vegetable fibre that's spun into course strong strands that’s ideal for making long lasting shopping bags.
Bag with more bottle
This handy carrier costs 75p.
A very strong wine carrier, made with plastic bottles, can be used and re-used again.
Cool bag
This bag costs 50p
A great solution to help keep your shopping insulated on the journey home. The top of the bag can be fastened and pulled apart so the bag can be used over and over again.
