Sainsbury's - Try something new today

Sainsbury's colleague serving customer
There are four simple steps from applying for a role through to joining one of our in-store teams:

Step 1 – Initial application
Check out our current vacancies and click on the one you’re interested in. You’ll then be given the option to apply online. The application process will take around 25 minutes to complete and you’ll need to complete it in one sitting (you can’t save your progress). You’ll also need details of your employment history for the last 5 years.

As you complete the application process, you’ll get feedback about how strong a match you are for the job. We’ll give you this feedback throughout the process and then email you to let you know how you got on, so you’ll need an active email address which you should check regularly. To be fair to other people looking to apply online in-store, we ask that you don’t check your email in-store – either do so at home or drop by a local Internet café.

Step 2 – Finding out more about you
If it looks like you could be a good match for the role, we’ll ask you to send us a little more information by email. It may sound like a lot, but we’re committed to ensuring both our customers and everyone who joins enjoys better, safer environment. The information we’ll request will include the following:

  • Previous address/es over the last 5 years including dates
  • Passport number, date, issue and nationality (please note, we only accept applications from people with the right to work in the UK)
  • If you have a driving licence, we’ll ask for the number and the valid from / to dates
  • Your employment history over the past 5 years including contact details, contact name and your position
  • Your highest educational qualification, address of school or college, contact details, contact name, dates attended, dates graduated and qualifications obtained

Please note, if you do not hold a passport, then click here

Once you’ve received our request for this information, we’ll ask you to reply with the information within 5 days. If we don’t receive it within 5 days, unfortunately we’ll be unable to take your application further. Please note that we’ll only use this information if you’re offered a role with Sainsbury’s.

Step 3 – Come and meet us
The next stage of the recruitment process is to invite you to take part in some straightforward exercises to make sure we’re right for each other. Once we’ve confirmed a date and time, you’ll need to bring along the following documents:

  • Utility bill confirming your home address (from the last 3 months)
  • Passport ( or alternative as outlined previously)
  • Driving licence (if you have one)

If you fail to bring any of these along on the day, unfortunately we’ll be unable to proceed with your face to face selection.

Step 4 – Job offer
If you’re successful then, congratulations, we’d like to offer you a job! If you accept, the information you’ve supplied will be checked by an independent referencing agency. Any offer of employment will be made subject to these checks and can be withdrawn if there’s a problem.

That’s it. You’re part of the team and ready to start enjoying all the benefits of being part of Sainsbury’s.
