Making the perfect cup of coffee
Having chosen a suitable blend, grind and made sure the coffee is really fresh, the rest is easy.
If you go to a high street coffee bar, a standard Espresso is around 7g of coffee, with typically two shots served into a 12oz large cup. Latte, Cappuccino and any other coffee you can think of is usually 2 shots of Espresso with hot water, milk, or chocolate added as required.
In the home, a typical coffee cup with saucer is 5 floz and a mug 7floz+ so you will need at least one 7 or 8g measure of coffee per cup.
If you have a Sainsbury’s coffee scoop (we have given away over 500,000 in recent years) one heaped scoop or rounded tablespoon equates to 7.5g of ground coffee.
So for the perfect cup:
Cafetiere
- 4 scoops, plus 4 cups of hot water plus 4 minutes infusion gives 4 perfect cups.
Filter Machine
- 4 scoops plus 4 cups of water through the filter machine gives 4 perfect cups
Espresso
- Use machine as directed
