At Sainsbury’s we’re really passionate about the quality of our products, which is why we expect our customers to enjoy the same great quality every time they shop with us.
As soon as the product idea is created by our team of developers, a quality management system is put in place to ensure we are getting it right - from when the product is manufactured by our suppliers right through to when you eat it.
Before any of our products are launched, a senior panel of experts scrutinises each one to make sure it meets our exacting standards; if it doesn’t come up to scratch, we won’t launch it.
Once our suppliers begin to manufacture the products, they taste them against agreed criteria and check that the packaging is fit for purpose, so the same great quality is produced every time. Our team of food technologists and quality controllers also regularly monitors the quality of these products to ensure our suppliers are meeting standards.
At the depots, our team of quality inspectors again ensures that all primary products continue to be fresh and tasty as they make the journey to the store. With over 10,000 own-label food products, it’s certainly a challenge, but we are confident that we deliver great products every time.
