Why Sainsbury's Kids?

Our nutritional standards

Sainsbury's Kids range is tried and tested by kids.
The Sainsbury’s Kids range just got bigger and better – which means more choice for them and an easier life for you with our fresh ideas and healthy tips for every mealtime.

With more than 75 products, the Sainsbury’s Kids range is special as it’s been developed with nutritionists especially for children aged four to eight.  Every product has also been taste-tested by school children to ensure that it gets their thumbs-up.  And there are lots of other benefits, from organic options to locally sourced meat.

Check the label

The Sainsbury’s Kids range makes sure that health messages are clearly displayed on the front of packaging to reassure parents about its strict credentials.  Here are a few of the labels you’re likely to see – and what they mean.

Look out for the Sainsbury's Kids products instore.

Sainsbury’s Kids

When you see the Kids logo, you can expect a nutritionally balanced range of the highest quality. We have achieved a further reduction in the levels of fat, saturated fat, sugar and salt while also increasing the amount of beneficial nutrients such as calcium and fibre.

Look out for the smile faces on pack for fast guide to benefits of each product.

The smiley face

This smiley face logo offers a fast guide to benefits such as ‘source of fibre’, letting you instantly see what’s good about each product.

Sainsbury traffic light label on all packs.

Multiple traffic light labelling

These tell you at a glance if the food or drink has high (red), medium (amber) or low (green) amounts of fat, saturated fat, sugar, salt and calories.

To make it easier for parents to see how healthy their child’s food is, Sainsbury’s has developed new ‘Just for Kids’ multiple traffic light labelling specifically for the nutritional requirements of children. This is based on Guideline Daily Amounts (GDA) for 4-6 year olds. You can now find this information on the front of pack for all the products in the Sainsbury’s Kids range.

Look out for the 5-a-day logo on packs.

5-a-day

Many parents find it difficult to get their children to eat their ‘5 a day’ of fruit and vegetables. Sainsbury’s Kids products with this logo provide one of a child’s ‘5-a-day’ (at least 60g).
