Check the label
The Sainsbury’s Kids range makes sure that health messages are clearly displayed on the front of packaging to reassure parents about its strict credentials. Here are a few of the labels you’re likely to see – and what they mean.

Sainsbury’s Kids
When you see the Kids logo, you can expect a nutritionally balanced range of the highest quality. We have achieved a further reduction in the levels of fat, saturated fat, sugar and salt while also increasing the amount of beneficial nutrients such as calcium and fibre.

Multiple traffic light labelling
These tell you at a glance if the food or drink has high (red), medium (amber) or low (green) amounts of fat, saturated fat, sugar, salt and calories.
To make it easier for parents to see how healthy their child’s food is, Sainsbury’s has developed new ‘Just for Kids’ multiple traffic light labelling specifically for the nutritional requirements of children. This is based on Guideline Daily Amounts (GDA) for 4-6 year olds. You can now find this information on the front of pack for all the products in the Sainsbury’s Kids range.

5-a-day
Many parents find it difficult to get their children to eat their ‘5 a day’ of fruit and vegetables. Sainsbury’s Kids products with this logo provide one of a child’s ‘5-a-day’ (at least 60g).
