London 2012 Paralympic Games

Paralympian Ellie Simmonds
Ellie, Paralympic Swimmer, captured the world’s attention when she won two Gold medals at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games at just 13 years old.

Billy Pye MBE, Ellie’s coach and mentor, gives a telling insight into the intriguing character behind this extraordinary elite athlete.
Ellie is a determined hardworking athlete and at the age of just 14 she received
an MBE.
Since her Mum took her swimming at the age of five, Ellie took to the water and was selected to swim for her local club, where she found that she enjoyed competing. Between her busy training schedule, Ellie enjoys baking and going clothes shopping with friends.
Ellie has her heart set initially on her goal to qualify for the Paralympics and then to regain her titles in the 100 and 400 metres.
