Greek-style pizza

A little mince goes a long, long way with this easy to make Mediterranean pizza.

You will need

  • ½ tablespoon olive oil
  • 250g British lean steak mince
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 garlic clove, peeled and finely chopped
  • 1 pack pizza bases
  • 390g carton chopped tomatoes with basil and oregano
  • ½ x 185g jar pitted black olives, drained
  • ½ red onion, peeled and finely sliced
  • 100g Greek feta, crumbled
  • 120g cherry tomatoes
  • ¼ x 28g pack fresh basil, leaves picked and washed to serve

Step by step guide to making Greek-style pizza

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C, fan 180°C, gas mark 6. Lightly grease 2 baking trays.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan, add the mince and break up with a fork. Cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring, until the mince is browned and no pink remains.
  3. Add the dried oregano and garlic, season with black pepper and stir to combine. Drain off any excess fat and discard. Remove from the heat and set aside.
  4. Put the 2 pizza bases on the greased baking trays. Spread the chopped tomatoes on top of each then scatter with the olives, red onion, feta and cherry tomatoes, then spoon over the mince. Season with black pepper.
  5. Bake in the oven for about 15 minutes until the base is crisp. To serve, scatter the fresh basil leaves over the top and cut each pizza into quarters.
