You will need

  • 500g Taste the Difference British gem potatoes
  • 100g Taste the Difference oak smoked bacon lardons
  • 1 large free range Woodland egg by Sainsbury's
  • 25g chives, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, peeled
  • ½ lemon, juice only
  • 2 teaspoons by Sainsbury's Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon by Sainsbury's Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 Sainsbury's anchovies in olive oil
  • 100ml Sainsbury's extra virgin olive oil
  • 75g by Sainsbury's Parmigiano reggiano, shaved (using a vegetable peeler)

Step by step guide to making Potato Caesar salad with bacon and chives

  1. Cook the potatoes in boiling water until tender (10-15 minutes), then drain.
  2. Dry fry the bacon lardons until crisp. Remove from the heat and leave to drain on kitchen paper.
  3. Whilst the potatoes cook, make the dressing: In a small food processor, whizz together the egg with the garlic cloves, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce and the anchovies.       
  4. Season to taste, then keep the food processor running and gradually pour in the extra virgin olive oil until the dressing becomes really thick and glossy.      
  5. In a salad bowl pour the dressing over the drained potatoes, add the parmesan, bacon and sprinkle with the chives. Mix well and serve.

Cook's tip: In a rush? Substitute the home-made dressing for some Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Caesar dressing.
