Bangers and mash with onion gravy
A family favourite, this sausage and mash dinner is easy, cheap and filling.

You will need
- 8 frozen thick pork sausages
- 950g potatoes, peeled and chopped
- 100ml milk
- 2 red onions, peeled and finely sliced
- A knob of butter
- 1 tablespoon plain flour
- ½ beef stock cube, made up to 500ml with hot water
- 400g frozen green beans

Step by step guide to making Bangers and mash with onion gravy
- Grill the frozen sausages, following pack instructions.
- Meanwhile, simmer the potatoes in water for 15-20 minutes, until soft, then drain and mash with the milk.
- Fry the red onions in the knob of butter over a medium heat for 5 minutes. Stir in the flour and the 500ml stock (made using the beef stock cube), and simmer for a further 5 minutes.
- Cook the frozen green beans in lightly boiling water for 3-4 minutes. Drain and serve immediately with the sausages, mash and onion gravy.
Make it veggie: Try swapping the sausages for 300g Linda McCartney original sausages. Swap the beef stock cube for a vegetable stock cube when making the gravy.
