Recipe Information

Step by step guide to making Christmas tree biscuits

  1. Mix the unsalted butter with the caster sugar and ground cinnamon until creamy. Add the egg and flour, then mix until a dough forms. Gather into a ball, wrap in clingfilm and chill for 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the oven to 200°C, fan 180°C, gas mark 6. Lightly grease 3 baking trays.
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to ½ cm thick, then cut into 3 different sizes of stars using cutters, or triangles using a knife if you don’t have cutters.
  4. Place on separate baking trays, according to size. Bake in the preheated oven for 12–14 minutes, then leave to cool.
  5. Stack into trees using 3 large, 2 medium and 2 small stars or triangles, using an icing pen to stick them together.
  6. Dust with icing sugar and decorate with sugar baubles, sticking them on with the icing pen.

You can buy star biscuit cutters from our Sainsbury's baking range.
