You will need

  • 45ml Sainsbury's lighter mayonnaise
  • 60ml soured cream
  • 1 lemon, juice only
  • 1 teaspoon caster sugar
  • 2 red apples, cored and thinly sliced
  • 200g red grapes, halved
  • 1 stick celery, sliced
  • 2 x 220g packs Sainsbury's be good to yourself long sliced roast chicken
  • 1 head romaine lettuce
  • 4 tablespoons walnuts, chopped
  • 28g pack Sainsbury's fresh flat leaf parsley, chopped

Step by step guide to making Hearty Waldorf salad

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, soured cream, lemon juice and sugar until combined.
  2. Add the apples to the dressing along with the grapes and celery and toss to coat.
  3. Tear the chicken into bite-size pieces then add to the bowl, mixing together until combined. Season to taste.
  4. Tear the romaine lettuce into bite-size pieces and arrange on plates. Top with the chicken salad mixture and a sprinkling of walnut pieces and chopped fresh parsley.
