Baxters caramelised onion chutney is created from a classic family recipe that delivers a sumptuous taste sensation to your snacks and mealtimes. At the heart of our onion chutneys are selected onions, which we caramelise before combining them with rich balsamic vinegar. The result is a magnificently flavourful treat for your taste buds that can be enjoyed in a host of culinary settings. Enjoy our caramelised onion chutney with cold meats, cheese or salads. For more than 150 years, Baxters has brought delicious food from our family’s kitchen to yours.
Our chutney now graces tables across the world – quite a journey from 1868, when George and Margaret Baxter began selling jams and jellies made from local fruit at their little shop in Scotland.
What has not changed is our devotion to George’s vow to “be different and be better”. We still use fresh local produce – and every recipe is signed off by his great-granddaughter Audrey, the fourth generation of Baxters to lead the company.
