But the story of how the flavour of this frozen dessert came to be is nearly as sweet. In 2001, New York Times reporter Abby Ellin visited Ben & Jerry's HQ in Burlington, VT, USA, with several other journalists. Each reporter worked with a flavour guru to invent their very own flavour. And although the recipe for Abby's flavour was never committed to memory, her unforgettable name certainly stuck: Karamel Sutra! With Abby's permission, it joined our special collection of 2002 Core Concoction flavours. With its velvety core of soft caramel encircled by chocolate and caramel ice creams with fudge chips, this stuff was made for pint-tunnelers everywhere. A tasty treatBen and Jerry's are renowned for producing good quality, tasty ice creams. This product is no different. I was slightly apprehensive over whether the different flavours contained within the pot would complement each other, I was wrong. I'd never tasted this flavour of Ben and Jerry's before but I was pleasantly surprised. The chips complement the chocolate section wonderfully and the vanilla comprises a smooth delectable texture which was most certainly agreeable to the taste buds. The Caramel "Core" was the perfect addition to the two flavours, a bold but sweet flavour which was very well received. I served the ice cream for dessert and all the family enjoyed the ice cream, due in part to the variety of the contents. I would not hesitate in recommending this product to anyone looking for that perfect tasty treat.

Core look at all that core, oh hang on, it's gone!I'm a big fan of most Ben & Jerry's flavours but I had not yet tried the "core" range of their ice-cream. I was always slightly put off by the idea of the core itself as I felt it would mean less of the delicious ice-cream. To an extent this is true.

There is less ice-cream than a usual tub. That said, the core itself is actually quite delicious. It was a more sophisticated flavour than I imaged, think more dulche de leche than cheap caramel sauce. It is soft and gooey and very very rich, it coats the tongue in an extremely indulgent way. I shared the tub with my girlfriend and we basically fought over every spoonful as to who had the most core!

I'm not sure if our tub was unusual or not but our core ran out about half way down. We were a bit disappointed by this but I am not sure if we just had a 'faulty' tub.The image on the tub certainly makes it seem the core is supposed to run all the way to the bottom.

The Ice-cream is the usual delicious Ben & Jerry's we're all used to but it is in danger of being overpowered by the core. I think in this case the caramel flavoured ice-cream actually is, the chocolate however is powerful enough (with a nice cocoa hit) to hold it's own against the core. I barely noticed the chocolate pieces as my mouth was busy dealing with core!

We finished the whole pot between us in a single sitting. There is no doubting it is delicious but I am a Ben & Jerry's purist and I think I'd rather stick with my usual cookie dough or peanut butter!. I would like to try the other core flavours but I think the traditional varieties will always be my first choice. The core does certainly add an extra layer of luxury but it is quite intense and I think some people would find it too rich.

My girlfriend would like to sign off by saying it was really delicious and she loved it, it's her favourite! But I'm the Buzz agent so my review is a bit more comprehensive.

Karamel Sutra - Sensual and took me to heaven!I tried Ben & Jerry's Karamel Sutra Core ice cream. It is a mixture of chocolate and caramel ice cream with a really rich caramel core. I generally dislike ripple ice creams but thankfully this came in two halves, chocolate on one side of the container, caramel on the other. The core was nice and thick and the caramel was extremely sweet. On its own the caramel core was very sickening, however, mixed with the ice creams and the very generous chocolate chunks mixed through the product it rivalled any ice cream sundae from the best ice cream parlours. The caramel ice cream didn't have a strong flavour, more like a rich creamy vanilla but it complimented the chocolate deliciously. The chocolate was a nice smooth consistency, and rich without being overpowering. I would highly recommend this ice cream as a treat and as it is so rich a small portion is enough to make you feel completely satisfied without scoffing the whole thing.

Keep kalm and eat karemel sutra!!Being a Big Ben and Jerrys fan I was excited to grab a spoon and get stuck in to my tub of Karamel Sutra and I certainly wasn't disappointed. The combination of the chocolate and caramel icecream with fudgey nuggets and smooth caramel core was simply delicious and left me wanting for more! The tub didn't last long in our house and can't wait to treat myself to some more. So what are you waiting for? Grab a spoon and get stuck in!

Falling in love with Karamel SutraSo, I've tried Ben and Jerry's ice cream before - it's my go-to brand for a girl's night in with a film, a bottle of wine and a tub of frozen deliciousness. When this campaign invitation came through, I can't deny that I was super excited...

It did not take me long to claim my tub of Ben and Jerry's Core Karamel Sutra Ice Cream, and furthermore, I was not disappointed. So the tub has one half caramel ice cream, and one half chocolate ice cream, with a substantial core of thick, gooey caramel between the two. I love this layout in the tub because with a single spoonful, you can customise your own dessert: you can go for just the chocolate ice cream, or the chocolate with some caramel, or just caramel ice cream, or caramel ice cream with caramel, or just caramel, or just the two ice creams, or even all 3 together! It's just so great, and saves you buying 3 separate products.

Caramel ice cream: This ice cream is so smooth, and whilst quite sweet, it's actually pretty light, so you could eat as much of it as you like. Personally, caramel ice cream is my absolute favourite, so this was a big hit with me.

Chocolate ice cream: This ice cream has chunks of chocolate in it, so it's not quite as smooth as the caramel flavour, but it's nice to have a bit of variety. The flavour is much richer, a true chocolatey flavour, and unlike a lot of chocolate ice creams, this doesn't have a "fridge-y" taste. This is my boyfriend's favourite.

Caramel core: Whilst a little sickly by itself, it perfectly complements the ice creams, as it is less jaw-achingly cold, and has a different texture. It's like having the ice cream and toppings already in one tub.

I have to admit that there was something else I wanted to try with this tub: the ice cream cookie sandwich. So i took a sharp knife and cut through the tub when the ice cream was straight out of the freezer, so that I ended up with a disc of the three components, and I sandwiched the disc between two chocolate chip cookies. And it was heaven. There are no more words for it, except that you have to try it.

I can wholeheartedly and unreservedly recommend this ice cream to you, as it is so dreamy and delicious. Perfect for a group of friends, or a party of one.

Yeah it was alrightDon't get me wrong I am a very big Ben and Jerry's fan but this one was not quite doing it for me.
The chocolate ice cream was amazing as always with Ben & Jerry's but it was the caramel flavoured ice cream that let this down. It was alright, just seemed to lack in flavour.
The caramel core wasn't actually much of a core, did not go the whole way through and then I found a little bit right in the bottom corner. The flavour of it was good but it would have been better if there was more core and if some of the caramel flavour from the core was actually in the caramel ice cream.
Chocolate chips were a nice added flavour to the chocolate ice cream and gave it a crunch every now and then.

Playing it fudging safeI was quite looking forward in trying Ben and Jerrys caramel sutra ice cream but was left a bit disappointed. Upon opening the lid I was greeted with a ying & yang style chocolate and caramel ice cream with a shiny gooey caramel centre running through the middle. The ice cream was nice enough, chocolate ice cream tends to be quite heavy but this tasted quite light in comparison. It was a nice surprise with the chocolate chunks hidden within the ice cream and it was quite generous on that front. I just felt it was a bit safe of Ben and Jerrys. They have released some awesome flavours prior such as phish food and chunky monkey and even the mighty cookie dough, this for me was a bit boring.

Extremely delicious ice-creamI just love the Karamel Sutra Ice Cream. It's filled with the best caramel ever (still don't understand how the caramel is not frozen) and is extra creamy. I can't stop buying it, it is definitely delicious!!! I have tried loads of types creams but this one beats the Italian and Turkish ones I have tried on holidays.

Sweet tooth heavenI love Ben and jerrys so was excited to try the new core karamel sutra ice cream and it didn't dissapoint. True sweet tooth heaven. May be a little sickly for some but not for me. It has delicious chocolate and caramel ice cream with delicious chocolate chunks and a gooey caramel centre. All the flavours blend lovely together and I can't wait to buy some more. I couldn't eat too much at once as it is a tiny bit sickly after a while but would definitely recommend to any chocolate or caramel lovers. One of my favourite flavours so far.
