History: The first wine produced by the company took its name from the initials C.V.N.E. A fortuitous misspelling between the 'U' and the 'V' created the iconic Cune brand. With its spiritual home still in Rioja, C.V.N.E. (The Northern Spanish Wine Company) now owns wineries across Northern Spain, including in the Atlantic-influenced Rias Baixas D.O., where this fine example of Albariño is produced.
Regional information: This 100% Albariño is sourced from vineyards located in the southern part of the Rías Baixas D.O., where the climate is warmer and drier than in the northern zones. These conditions lead to earlier ripening, resulting in wines with well-balanced acidity and alcohol, a solid structure, and pronounced fruit character
Vinification: The grapes were hand-harvested. A pre-fermentation skin maceration was applied to 40% of the fruit to encourage greater aromatic depth and complexity. This was followed by gentle direct pressing to extract only the finest free-run juice. Fermentation was carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and once complete, the wine remained on its fine lees for approximately three months, gaining additional texture and aromatic complexity.
