History: Don Maximiano Errázuriz founded Viña Errázuriz in 1870 when he planted the first French grape varieties in Chile's Aconcagua Valley. His initiative, creativity and belief that the best wines come from the best land has been passed down through subsequent generations and today Viña Errázuriz remains family owned by the Chadwick family. Working hand in hand with nature, the family and winemaking teams are constantly striving to produce great Chilean wines, produced in a sustainable, responsible way.
Regional information: From vineyards planted on the north-eastern slopes of Chile's Coastal Range, less than 30km from the Pacific Ocean.
Vinification: Hand-harvested grapes were carefully sorted on a double selection table before fermentation in stainless steel tanks, with 15% retained as whole clusters. Following 3-5 days of cold maceration, fermentation was carried out using native yeasts. Total maceration lasted 11-14 days, enhancing colour, flavour and structure. To add complexity and texture, 40% of the wine was matured in oak barrels for 12 months.
