We've chosen our Big Kalamata olives for their large size and big meaty bite. These juicy olives have a rich fruity flavour, meaty texture and distinctive almond shape. Kalamata olives are considered to be the queen of Greek olives; they are plump and meaty with a glossy skin and show a slight variation in colour from deep chestnut through to dark purple. Like all naturally black olives, Kalamata olives are harvested when they have turned a deep dark purple colour, which indicates that the olive is ripe. Our Big Kalamata olives won a gold star at the 2020 Great Taste Awards where judges commented: “The flavour of the olives has its trademark bitterness but also an excellent balancing sweetness. The brine gives these a salty tartness as well, making these mild olives very moreish and easy to eat.”
