Taste the Difference 12 year Sweet Pedro Ximenez Sherry 50cl

This dark mahogany Sherry is lusciously sweet and syrupy with intense caramel and prune flavours. This full-bodied pudding wine is made by leading Sherry producer Williams & Humbert and has been aged for 12 years in a network of oak casks known as a 'Solera' system. Serve this luscious Sherry at room temperature with desserts, mature cheeses or pour over vanilla ice cream.

Huge disappointmentI bought it as I saw some reviews saying this wine tastes deliciously. It turned out to be a huge disappointment to me. It reminded me of coughing syrup, highly sugary with artificial taste, worst wine I have ever tried. I used it for cooking instead, thinking it's a waste to throw it away.

Tasteless example of something which *should* be far betterA previous review says that you will either love or hate Pedro Ximenez sherry - that is entirely unfounded. *This* sherry is a poor example of something which is frequently made far better, with a resultant flavour that is actually perceptable: I should know, because I've tasted many examples of it.

When I'm paying the equivalent of over £10 for a bottle of anything I expect it to be at least palatable. This is sweetened dishwater, with a little added alcohol.

It is, in a word, foul.

It does not deserve any special accolades, or excuses by those who clearly know little about Pedro Ximenez sherries.

Avoid at all costs
