Nothing like an authenic Pad Thai sauce! :(I bought this one day when it was on offer to keep in the cupboard for a day I didn't want to cook from scratch, which is what I usually do. Having been to Thailand, done some Thai cooking classes and regularly cook recipes from a Thai YouTube channel I follow, I can say that this Pad Thai sauce is close to the worst I've ever tasted. Pad Thai sauce isn't supposed to taste like tomato ketchup with a little bit of heat, but that's exactly what the sauce in this kit tastes like. Where on earth were the tamarind flavours that are supposed to be the star of the dish? 5% tamarind paste [Tamarind Water] as the packet mentions) followed by tomato paste. Since when is that a Pad Thai sauce ingredient? I get that they've made this suitable for vegetarians and vegans so they've omitted the shrimp paste or fish sauce that usually adds a depth, but this was just horrible with no balance. Once the noodles have started absorbing the sauce, there's no going back, so take my advice...taste the sauce first and adjust to your palate before starting to cook. It's a good job I had some tamarind sauce to hand, some plant-based fish sauce (from seaweed) and a few limes too.

If you like a restaurant Pad Thai this is for you.It was what I expected, but the sauce was really delicious indeed. With a sachet of peanuts to sprinkle on the top, and so quick to do. I put a large carton of Quorn mince instead of the suggested prawns, we are vege. I also added some leeks and carrots to balance the stir fry. Yum
