Preparation and Safety

Cooking instructions: Cooking Instructions

Tastiest when oven baked straight from the freezer. Be careful! the filling will be very hot. Not suitable for microwave cooking. - Please ensure food is cooked until piping hot. - These instructions are guidelines only. - Do not refreeze after defrosting.

Cooking instructions: Oven cook

200°C, Fan 180°C, gas mark 6, 30-35 mins - Pre-heat the oven. - Place pie in foil dish on a baking tray in the middle of the oven. - Cook until lightly golden.

Cooking instructions: Air Fry

Alternatively 170C, 25 mins - Place single pie in foil dish in the basket. - Cook for 25 mins - Allow to stand for 1 minute

DisappointingThese used to be nice but now they are mostly gravy and the pastry is paper thin. They are also much smaller and barely make a meal

A proper pieMy adult children will not eat any other chicken and veg pie.
Pastry is crisp and not soggy
Filling is proportionate with equal quanties.
A bit pricey but I have always found one shop that has an offer on.
Only issue I have had is sometimes they are difficukt to get out of the foil tray.

Shocking deterioration in qualityThese used to be lovely and tasty for a quick snack with flavoursome pastry and a really good filling. We had them in our last order and they were absolutely terrible with tasteless pastry, rubbery 'chicken', (I have my doubts...), and the odd lump of gristle. We got another pack in our latest order to make sure it wasn't just a bad batch and they were just as bad. No more, I'm afraid.

Quality has gone downhillThese used to be a reliable standby - easy to cook and tasty. But gradually over several years, the quality has gone down and down. First the chicken became just fatty scraps (thankfully improved again later), then the pastry changed so that the pies could no longer be flipped out of the foil casing easily, and now they've started to stick to the casing, so a big chunk gets left behind, and you have to tip them out upside down. Two stars because what's left is edible, I suppose, but I'll be looking for alternatives.

Lovely taste but nowt in 'em!I have to eat all four at once (I ditch half the pastry) to have my fill but at just over four quid per box that's the same price as one premium pie from other brands. Nobody can be full after even two of these pies! They contain about one non-heaped tablespoon of filling per pie but the taste takes me back to my childhood.
