Preparation and Safety

Cooking instructions: Oven cook

For best results cook from frozen. Remove all packaging, but leave pie in a foil tray. Ensure food is piping hot prior to serving. All cooking appliances vary; timings are to be used as a guideline only. Not suitable for air frying. 200°C/Fan 180°C/ Gas mark 6, 40 minutes Brush top with plant based milk or egg alternative.

Storage

For best before end see side of pack. Keep frozen -18°C or below. Do not refreeze.

DisappointingIn the distant past these were more a 'chicken & mushroom pie' alternative. These days they have vegan mince, more like a minced beef pie which I don't like. It's mostly pastry and gravy.

Sad piesIt is with some sadness that I have decided to never buy these pies again after many years of loyalty to the brand. They have gradually worsened in quality and tase over a very long period of time resulting in what is left being a small amount of filling lacking in taste, encased in ridiculously thick and stodgy pastry (spot the cheap ingredients) which doesn’t cook through properly, and is an embarrassment to serve to anyone who doesn’t have a curious liking for raw pastry.

Shame they changed the filling recipeI've been buying these for year and years, and as far as a quick bung-in-the-oven dinner goes, they're usually okay if paired with smashed potatoes, brocolli and homemade gravy, or minted mushy peas and roasted carrots. The last pack of these I bought (about two weeks ago), I noticed that a couple of things had changed, most notably the flavour and amount of the filling. I don't know what they've done there but wasn't as much filling as I remember and it tasted...strange. I cooked them the way I usualy do - ensuring they go into the oven on a heated tray which stops the soggy bottom (on any pie), and I also brushed the top with almond milk to get a nice crusty top, but the bottom was still a tad undercooked when I followed the instructions. In future I'd leave them in a little longer and turn the head down a tad. Not sure I'm in a rush to buy them again, considering how different they tasted this time around.

DisappointingI have bought these in the past and they were good, the latest pack I bought which was about two or three weeks ago were absolutely awful. I don’t know what they’ve done to them. The contents are just like brown sludge and the pastry is hard. The pastry lid used to be puff pastry, it is still advertised as such, but it’s not, it’s just weird. Had one threw the other one in the bin.

Tiny pies, awful pastry, filled with sludgeI hadn't has these for a couple of years and I won't be having them again.
The top burnt, but the rest of the pastry was still raw, like something that had been rejected by school dinner providers. The filling was a brown sludge that didn't really taste of anything.
Absolute waste of money - binned.
I don't know what's going on with LMC foods but the quality, VFM and taste of their products has headed so far south, they're not worth bothering with.
Even on offer.
AVOID.

Really poor product. Not fit for consumptionThese pies should not be on the shelves. Cooking instructions say to bake for 35-40 minutes from frozen. Every one we cook the base pastry comes out raw. Absolutely disgusting. We even left the pie in the oven for 50 minutes and the base is still a soggy inedible mess. These never used to be like this. Sainsbury’s - stop selling them. People are going to get sick.
