Preparation and Safety

Cooking instructions: Boil in the Bag

Half fill a pan with water & bring to the boil. Remove outer packaging & place the unopened bag into the pan Return to the boil & simmer for 20 mins. Do not cover pan with lid. Take care when removing from pan as bag will be hot. Gently shake bag then carefully cut the top of the bag with scissors as hot steam will escape

Our Fish Steaks in Butter Sauce are best microwaved straight from your freezer. Ensure product is piping hot throughout before serving. All appliances vary, these are guidelines only.

Cooking instructions: Microwave

Remove outer packaging. Pierce bag several times & place bag onto a microwaveable plate 4 1/2 mins Cook on full power 800W - cook for 2 1/2 mins shake gently & cook for a further 2 mins 900W - cook for 2 mins shake gently & cook for a further 1 1/2 mins stand for 1 min. Take care when removing from microwave as plate and bag will be hot. Cut the top of the bag with scissors carefully as hot steam will escape.

DisappointingI bought these as I used to buy Cod in butter sauce years ago as a quick meal and thought they would be the same, but what a disappointment. The fish is not cod but something called pollack, a cheap alternative, and it’s nowhere near as nice as cod. Also the sauce is far too thin and watery. I would prefer to pay more for for cod in a nice thick sauce.

Awful!!!!I literally bought this the other day. Paying over £5 I was expecting something decent. Boy, was I wrong. I followed the instructions for microwave heating, and discovered part of the fish was still frozen and raw. Had to microwave it for a further 3 MINUTES before it was edible. Flavour was bland and tasted very cheap! The sauce was no help whatsoever. Utterly disgraceful. Even if someone paid me, I would not be eating that again.

Good valueI know these aren't rated highly but I find them very convenient and have them weekly with a selection of fresh vegetables. I especially like the butter sauce ones. They are very low calorie so great for when you are cutting down. And 4 meals for the price is brilliant. So much easier and cheaper than cooking your own fish and sauce.

Nothing like the picture on the boxWe wanted to buy 'fish in a bag' so bought this as Birds Eye's version wasn't available. the instruction for microwave cooking doesn't cook the fish - I had to recook it 3 times for the fish to be cooked, even though the fish was not in a block but in small pieces. The sauce wasn't too bad.

Not what it used to be like!Always used to buy this in the past when it was sold as Cod in butter sauce and assumed that this would be fine, how wrong I was.
I have to agree with other reviewers here it was dreadful, we made a fish pie topped with mashed potato which in the past was delicious but using this fish I did not enjoy it at all, in fact I picked most of the fish(?) out and gave it to the dog and I felt guilty about doing that!
I shall not be buying this again and the rest will go in the scrap food bin!

Disgusting would not give to an animalAs the fish is covered in a sauce it is not easy to see the quality of the fish. After taking a mouthful that tasted like rubber, I washed the sauce off. The attached photo is what Youngs are supplying. The smallest piece of disgusting ( and I do question if it is fish) that tastes like rubber it looks and is inedible. The photo says everything.

Worst everNever thought I would ever experience such a dreadful fish in sauce. The fish was no more than 8mm thick with brown patches on. How on earth Youngs can produce this rubbish is beyond comprehension
